About me & my Snowdrops

I started collecting snowdrops several years ago when I stumbled across an article about a rare snowdrop called Galanthus Grumpy and bought one as a Christmas present for my husband, as it so reminded me of him!

Galanthus Grumpy - my very first collectors snowdrop bought as a Christmas present for my husband.

My next purchase was Galanthus Three Ships which flowers reliably for me on Christmas Day & has proudly adorned our Christmas table ever since.

Several years and over 200 varieties later, I decided to set up Lakeland Snowdrops primarily to share my collection with other snowdrop lovers and on a wider, if not romantic note to "promote winter gardening", as I find myself spending more and more time outdoors in the colder months appreciating my precious 'drops'.

As nature intended all my snowdrop bulbs are naturally grown outdoors in the unpolluted fresh air in the grounds of my modest size Lakeland garden.  They form part of my extensive snowdrop collection which I have built up over a number of years and which increases year on year by natural division.

My snowdrops are grown in a mix of natural soil, compost and perlite to enable plants to be freshly lifted without damaging the bulbs, roots and flowers at any time of the year and to be safely planted straight outside in the ground without needing to be acclimatised in a cold frame or greenhouse as they have not been grown in an artificial environment.

All my bulbs for sale are of flowering size & are freshly lifted and packaged in either damp moss, damp kitchen towel (for overseas orders) or damp compost mixed with perlite, depending on the size of the bulb and the stage of growth when the bulb is freshly lifted.  I take great care to select excellent quality bulbs and can guarantee that each bulb is of the correct named variety.

I do of course combine postage for multiple purchases.  I offer FREE additional postage & packaging for additional bulbs bought within the same period as most orders will fit into a 2 kg parcel and will not cost any more to post.  I also post to EU countries eligible under CITES legislation.

I normally post within 3 working days during busy times (but often orders are sent out the next day) and only use Royal Mail first class postage to ensure bulbs are received quickly and in the best possible condition.   I also use recycled packaging where possible.

Thank you for looking.  Enjoy your snowdrops!
